[GMBA EVENT] Summer breeze with chimaek and board game cafe

Updated: Aug 4, 2020

Weather has been bad this week so we couldn't help but notice the golden weather on the weekend that forecasted lesser rain and more sunshine! The student council originally planned for a summer picnic by the Hangang river few weeks back however the rainy season started to set in so we have a quick change of plan.

It was such a long time since we have set and organize an official event for the class, mostly due to the pandemic. We were excited to meet up this time, but also very cautious of our health and safety. We wore masks and kept our hands clean by sanitizing them.

How can we miss chicken and beer on a day out like this, right?

We went to a chicken and beer restaurant called 아저씨치킨 located in Sinchon, near Yonsei University. We were so thankful that they opened earlier than usual to accommodate our reservation. We had two big pan/mountain of fried chicken with 3 different flavors, mini hash browns, cheese sticks, fried shrimp, and French fries. Believe me, it is gigantic in person.

And of course! Beer to go with the chicken!

We had lots of things to catch up with each other. During the summer semester, we had elective classes only so most of us were in different classes and we only do classes online (limited hybrid class), we haven't been seeing each other for months. Besides that, some of us are currently doing our internships, hence more blood, sweat, and tear stories to tell!

Knowing that there are chances that it was going to rain after lunch, we've made reservation at a board game cafe nearby called Red Button. There are sooo many board games that you can choose to play in a private room with table and chairs. There is also another type of room where you sit on the floor. The cafe was packed with people, almost every room was booked.

People usually spend a few hours in the room playing board games, hence there were also food and beverage available to order. It is compulsory to order at least one per person. Knowing how to play board games that we are used to only, we've decided to go with Jenga, Rummikub and UNO. Maybe we should learn some Korean ones too in the future, like Go-stop (고스톱/고도리)?

Rummikub definitely made us crack our heads :D

Jenga is always so exciting and fun. It is a must when you visit board game cafe with a bunch of friends!

It was such a fun day out although it wasn't under the sun. It was so nice to see human faces and chat our time away. We promise to organize better hangouts next time when the rainy season is over, so stay tuned!
